Join Dr. Antonio Byrd for an interactive workshop on introducing students to GenAI in classrooms that incorporate writing assignments. Antonio will first give an orientation about GenAI, describing what it is and how it works, its ethical challenges, and its implications for so-called "AI Workforce training." Drawing on preliminary survey and interview data with UMKC students, attendees will discuss ways of framing GenAI use for students as a human-in-the-loop approach. By the end of the workshop, instructors will develop their own micro-lessons that introduce students to GenAI in writing classrooms.
