Curating Research and Teaching
A Panel Discussion with Professors Jane Greer, Virginia Blanton, and Jeff Rydberg-Cox
The Curators’ Distinguished Professorship is the highest and most prestigious academic rank awarded by the Curators of the University of Missouri. The award is given to a few select scholars whose record of excellence has been widely acknowledged in their respective fields and by colleagues across the UM system. In this panel discussion, SHSS Curators’ Professors Jane Greer, Virginia Blanton, and Jeff Rydberg-Cox will discuss some of “the tricks of the trade” which have helped them achieve such tremendous success in their teaching and research endeavors. The panel will also provide attending faculty with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss some of the challenges they face in pursuing their research and teaching goals. The hope is that by drawing inspiration from stories of success, as well as speaking honestly about the challenges we face as researchers and educators, we can help build a more supportive environment for faculty.
