Join us each  third Thursday of the month at 3:00 P.M. for our Research Speakers Series. Dr. Margaret Brommelsiek will be our guest speaker. Dr. Brommelsiek’s humanities-based interdisciplinary research has received state and national funding. Her current research is in collaboration with Dr. Gary Sutkin, a surgeon in the School of Medicine, along with a team of interprofessional researchers including social scientists, musicians, and theatre faculty who conduct ethnographic studies in the operating room environment. As a practicing visual artist, Dr. Brommelsiek brings to her research the lens of an artist for finding meaning in patterns of behavior and non-verbal cues. Her current body of artistic work focuses on the interconnectedness of being through an exploration of the intersection between the arts and sciences. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. The series is hosted by the UMKC Office of Research Development and CAFE Research and Creativity Pillar.
