Where: https://umsystem.zoom.us/j/2072074747?pwd=QzhBK3Vt Zoom
When: 3/8/2022 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Presenter(s): Cody Hogan; Alexis Petri

More and more faculty are navigating post-award budgets on their own. Managing grant budgets for many researchers is a self-taught process that involves equal doses of trial and error and magic. This session will take some of the mystery out of the process of building realistic grant budgets at the proposal stage. The majority of the workshop will focus on the post-award side of managing grant budgets, including best practices in working with financial management to ensure compliance, monitoring budgets and forecasts, and using financial data.

Presenter: Cody Hogan, Finance Business Partner

Bio: Cody has worked in several different roles across MU, UM-System, and UMKC.  His experience includes working in the MU Sponsored Programs Office for six years with duties such as grant invoicing and financial reporting, issuing consulting agreements and subcontracts, and serving as the Post-Award Lead for a portfolio of about 600 grants.  He also spent one year at the UM-System controller’s office managing the PeopleSoft grants module and assisting with grant data gathering and reporting.  Over the past two and a half years, he has been at UMKC working as a Finance Business Partner for several units including the Institute for Human Development, Graduate Studies, Faculty Affairs, and the Research Institutes and Centers.
